So much better than the HD $20 version!
Holy cow this thing is awesome!our old one: We purchased a smaller version at HD for $20 last year when we had to remove a 5x8 space of tile for a pantry. My husband's back was killing him from bending over in practically a hunched kneel and the project took him 3 days of backbreaking labor. And it made so much dust! the cement glue stuff didn't come off at all and the cement was left uneven with many dings left in it. It was horrible. The blade was more like a dull thick piece of metal and the handle was only about 5 inches. The new one: We used the 6x12 inch scraper that we bought from amazon the day we received it. We had to remove 6 1 foot tiles to expand our kitchen cabinets. I half way expected the tile scraper to be as big as a pain and mess as our previous one, but thankfully, I was wrong. In about 10 minutes or less me husband was done. The tile pieces came out with no real effort and the "tile grout glue" was easily removed and the cement was left smooth. My husband was so thrilled that he removed even more tiles, mainly to see how long it would take to do a 5x8 space as to compare to our previous experience. He was done in less than 20 minutes with the whole project, and his back didn't hurt at all! It is wonderful that the blade part is sharper and wider, leaves a cleaner "cut" on the cement. The handle is very long as well so you do not have to bend over awkwardly. There was little dust as well because the pieces came off in pieces and not dusty shards. We plan to redo our tile in the next few months, and I was worried that the project would make living in our home unbearable based off of the first tile removing experience that we had- we were planning on at least 1 month just removing the tile and dust everywhere; I was considering temporarily moving in with my parents while my husband worked on the project! Now with our new tool, however, I know that the project wont be so horrible and the removing process will be greatly reduced.Thank you for making such an wonderful product.

Just what you need if you have hard ground.
Wish it was a little longer so deeper holes could be dug but it works great at cutting through tough clay, roots and rocks. I have used it to dig holes to bury animals that died and to plant trees in very tough Texas clay and rocky ground.

Well made, Durable Edge, no wear issues over more than a month of use
If you need to work in clay (especially in a confined space), using this with an SDS-Max Hammer will make your job loads easier. Sometimes you may be digging near a home, under a home, even by utilities and you can risk just swinging away with a pick/mattock and a shovel doesn’t really penetrate...this has become an indispensable tool. I have not had any issues, with clay sticking to the spade, nor have I found a case where the spade caused damaged....its like they perfect combination of speed as well as safety - why risk damage when you don’t have to. The spade bit is wide enough that unless you are using way too large a hammer will peel the clay from a block foundation without cracking or disturbing the block. It has increased productivity more than any other single tool that I have employed for digging. They only way I could improve this spade is with a slightly longer shank...

Power shovel
Turn your SDS-MAX rotary hammer into a power shovel. This thing is solid. And does great in cutting through clay.If you need to dig quickly — this will do it.Wish the shank was longer.

It worked for my application
I used this bit in a power hammer to dig a trench around the inside of my hose footer. All clay and rock digging. It held up fine, and made the job way easier than digging by hand.

What can you not dig with this super shovel?
I have used this for digging trenches, preparing to install retaining walls etc. This has been a life saver in my clay soil. A wonderful tool in my large cordless Dewalt hammer drill (in hammer mode obviously).

Fit my Chinese 16 lb jackhammer perfectly.
I just bought a 'lightweight' electric jackhammer because my old heavy unit is too much for my shoulders these days (I'm 75). I was worried that this smaller spade would cut too slow, compared with my 1-1/8 shank spade for my BIG machine, but it cut just as fast, if not faster. This is my first foray into tools that accept SDS-Max shanks and I was worried about the fit due to some reviews here. No such problem. Smooth fit.Very Pleased. Would recommend.
