This replaced a 6-year-old original battery on Lenovo Y580 which was only lasting about 45 minutes.This battery arrived partially charged but not reporting a percentage (plugged-in, charging). Once it was at 100% I unplugged and let it discharge a while. Due to recent Windows update battery-saver feature, it would not charge again (plugged-in, not charging) until it got below 80% but this is normal, as it attemps to make your battery last longer if it is usually on the charger (cycles the battery).As I let it discharge completely, it got down to 10% warning in less than an hour, but did not shut down until it had been running unplugged for about 3 hours. When plugged back in it would say 6 minutes to full charge, although it took several hours. After about 4 cycles like this, the battery was calibrated and accurately displayed the estimated running time and charging time. With medium use unplugged and WiFi active I get about 3 hours, maybe a little more. The original battery (larger WH) lasted longer when new, but this will be just fine for the remainder of this laptop's life.This is how these batteries work especially since the Windows 1705 (i think) update. All of the laptops I own starting having strange battery charging issues for a couple of months after that update, and I purchased unneeded batteries as a result. Just be patient as the charging monitor learns and calibrates to the batteries!
